The Foundation primary purpose is

To establish and enhance the bone marrow program awareness among the Asian American Community.

To organize blood drives and to increase the number of Asians who are registered in the National Marrow Donor Program's registry.

To educate the Asian American Community about the need of much needed participation in NMDP's  registry  in USA as well as in India.

1) We need you. Be part of this noble cause: The Foundation has set up sub-committees for various disciplines of professionals with a chairperson in each sub-committee. The Project Development team will create a project team for each project and assign responsibility to assemble all information (Technical, Financial, management, etc.) to prepare proposal(s). The requirements of various professionals are described here.

2) Requirements of Professionals:

General Requirements: Individual in each sub-committee must have education and experience in the field that he/she wants to participate in. Must be prepared for at least one meeting per year in person to develop criteria and action plan. Must have Computer skill and e-mail access. E-mail, telephone or fax, shall do all communication.

 

a) Medical Expertise Professionals:

 

Oncologists / Hematologists: Develop detailed plans of each item required to set up placenta cord blood banking in India. Also negotiate with the USA cord blood bank for technology transfer and its cost. Define various departments and develop equipment list and its cost for setting up the bank. Specify buildings and room sizes for such bank operations.

Microbiologists: Must have experience in HLA typing tray kits (Serological procedure or Molecular procedure or PCR-DNA based test methods). Develop manufacturing plan for manufacturing the trays with help of the USA manufacturer. Prepare list of equipment and chemicals with their cost to manufacture the tray kit. Review and prepare MOU with the USA manufacturer for technology transfer.

 

b) IT Professionals:

Computer Networking Engineers: Develop architecture of a centralized databank of bone marrow donors (HLA Typing) registry in India based on an internet based and satellite based with a high speed and secured network. Initially, 10 hospitals /institutes which  do HLA Typing tests shall be tied to this databank network. The databank network shall be modularly expandable to more hospitals/institutes as it grows. The architecture of network shall be compatible to World Bone Marrow Donor Association (WMDA) and International Standard for Bone Marrow Registry. Must be well-versed in software that strengthens the websites. Must be able to start and finish projects within agreed time frame. Must posses strong creativity in taking content and finding attractive means of presentation.
Software Engineers: Responsibility is to find off shelf software for Bone Marrow donors (HLA Typing) registry and custom fit to Indian HLA typing registry based on WMDA and International Standard for Bone Marrow Registry. It shall also be expandable.

 

c) Web development/Maintenance Professionals: Must have in-depth knowledge of web page creation, html coding with database and graphics. Shall be in charge of the website maintenance and updating the site. This position is instrumental in using technology to describe goal/vision of AABMF and news of AABMF very effectively. Must possess strong creativity in taking content and finding attractive means of presentation.

 

d) Financial Professionals:

CPA/Financial Analyst: Must have strong network skills. One of the most difficult, yet most important job is to fund the activities/projects that AABMF undertakes. Develop and/or assemble capital cost of equipment, hardware, software, land, building, installation, operational, maintenance, administration etc. Must have strong communication skills. Review financial reports of NGO’s / Non Profit Organizations and prepare a report of their qualification as per the guideline set up by the foundation. Also prepare financial auditing report of AABMF every year.
Accountant / bookkeeper: Keep detailed financial records of each project.

 

e) Project Development/Management Professionals: Responsibility is to prepare project proposal and to submit it to the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee for approval. The proposal shall include goal/vision, architecture of plan, list of equipment needed, cost of project (i.e. land, building, hardware, software, equipment, raw material if any, furniture, etc.), operating cost of project (i.e. personnel salaries, rent, training, utilities, maintenance cost, etc.), funding of project, benefits, joint venture with Indian NGO, accountability and monitoring plan. Must have strong leadership skills. Must be very organized and creative.

 

f) Fund raising Professionals: Must have strong networking skills. Shall be responsible for finding means to create financial self-sufficiency of project(s). He/She must have strong communication skills, determination, and creativity to arrange variety of fund raising activities.
